Carlos Mínguez Carrasco & Maria Safronova Wahlström
(the talk will be in English, frågor kan ställas på svenska)
(SV)

Carlos Mínguez Carrasco and Maria Safronova Wahlström will have a public conversation around the artist solo-exhibition at Köttinspektionen. It is a chance to deepen into Safronova Wahlström's practice and engage in questions around the utility and desire-feeling that design generates in society. Consumption and creation as ever-present concepts in contemporary life would also be addressed. After the conversation the public is welcome to raise questions to the guests.

Maria Safronova Wahlström (b. 1989, Moscow) is an artist based in Gothenburg. She works with sculpture, installation, and graphics, with a focus on our collective behavior, beliefs, and language practices. In her work she tries to reflect on collective identities, social myths, and ideological trends. In her projects, she focuses on the opposition between conceptual and visual form, contemporary and historical references —striving to highlight the absurd through playful expression and humor. She uses stone, plastic, metal, wood and "found objects", which with their respective qualities, history and provenance are brought into dialogue with techniques of engraving, sculpting, casting, UV and screen printing. Maria Safronova Wahlström earned her MFA in Fine Art from Valand Academy in 2019. Her work has been exhibited at (X)sites Biennial, Ars Electronica Festival, Galleri Candyland in Stockholm, Göteborgs Konsthall, the Contemporary Art Center in Vilnius, Galleri Jean-Pierre Gros in Paris, and the Tbilisi History Museum.
