Köttinspektionen presenterar "Here for the Rain, Here for the Storm", en grupputställning som tar sin utgångspunkt i Claudia Rankines skarpa och illustrativa poesi. De orädda och levande bilder som författaren skapar med ord inspirerar till att utforska fantasin som ett sätt att anknyta till berättelser om motstånd mot diskriminerande sociala normer och mönster.

Claudia Rankines skrivande möter oss som en eklektisk kombination av berättande, bilder, poesi och politik som effektivt samexisterar. Den återbesöker olika vardagliga ögonblick för att ge närvaro och mening till upplevelser av våld, rasism och förtvivlan. Rankines poesi ger oss både en personlig men även outsiderns bild av den ständiga kampen mot rasism och orättvisor. Den ger oss ett okonventionellt och nyanserat perspektiv på världen vi lever i.

Here for the Rain, Here for the Storm följer Rankines vanliga frågor och utforskar hur kritiska samtida situationer, som osäkerhet, konflikt och förflyttning, tvingar oss att skapa en ny framtid, även när det kan kännas som en nästan omöjlig uppgift. Konstnärerna presenterar olika personliga och kollektiva undersökningar i form av fantastiska familjeböcker, resilienta herbarium, en nyinspelning av en historisk film som avslöjar sin diskriminerande casting, porträtt av utbrändhet och ett lustigt hormonkokprogram. Förutom den vanliga förståelsen av fantasi som en typ av berättelse som beskriver en imaginär (och ofta omöjlig) värld, kommer utställningen att utforska potentialen hos ironi, performance, kollektiv intuition och konst för att uttrycka motstånd och bygga en möjlig utopi.

The writing of Claudia Rankine comes to us as an eclectic combination of narrative, visuals, poetry and politics which effectively coexist. It revisits various moments of the everyday life, giving presence and meaning to experiences of violence, racism, and despair. Rankine’s poetry transports us to both the personal and the outsider view of a continuous struggle against racism and injustice. It offers us an unconventional and nuanced perspective of the world we inhabit.

Here for the Rain, Here for the Storm follows Rankine's common questions and explores how brutal contemporary situations, such as conflict, oppression and displacement force us to imagine new futures, even when this may seem an almost impossible task. The artists present various personal and collective investigations in the form of fantastic family albums, resilient herbariums, the remake of a historical film exposing its discriminatory casting, portraits of exhaustion, and an hilarious hormone cooking show. In addition to the common understanding of fantasy as a kind of story that describes an imaginary (and often impossible) world, the exhibition will explore the potential of irony, performance, collective intuition and art to express resistance and build a possible utopia.
